I never realized how important it is sometimes to leave things out of a photograph. Negative space allows breathing room to focus on your subject and really take in the impact of the scene. I find very busy backgrounds distracting when they don’t have a nice bokeh effect on them and negative space lends to this clean style of photography.
Though I am not a sports fan in any sense of the word, this is one of my favorite photos that I’ve taken recently. This was taken outside of Coca-Cola Field in downtown Buffalo, NY. It feels vintage to me, like it was pulled from the era of baseball long ago.
See you on the other side of the lens.
