2015 – My Year of Gratitude

Another year has passed and we’re on to the next in a lifetime of new starts. I’ve grown a lot this past year and have learned so much about myself.

In April, I started a brand new 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, Angel Gowns of WNY, Inc. and grew it to over 100 volunteers in just 8 short months. We also started a side project of AGOWNY called The Preemie Project and that has seen success in supplying hats & blankets to preemies in NICUs.

In December, I started Owl Forever Love You, where I create Birth Weight Stuffed Owls. It is my hope that everyone who orders an Owl will feel its’ healing effects. Holding an Owl that is the exact weight their baby was when he/she was born helps to heal the aching arms left empty by their baby’s passing.

I’ve spent a lot of time not only reflecting on who I am, at my core, this past year but who I want to be. I’ve had to face some harsh realizations about myself and find a way to move through and passed them. I’ve relished in the love and happiness that fills my life on a daily basis. I vacationed in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, as well as visited our Nations capital,  and I found my work family, once again, in the same place I began my adult work life at the age of 19. Plus we added a new member to our family this Christmas, Bentley!

It is my intention, and I believe that’s a very important part of making it all happen – to intend it to happen, to grow & learn even more this coming year. I intend to live 2015 in love, with caring, compassion, generosity, helpfulness, kindness, charity and to try and make not only my world, but the entire world, a better, more loving, giving place.

I hope more people will open their eyes and their hearts to those around them. If you see a person in need: a woman struggling to cross the street; a man who’s dropped his groceries; a child trying to reach a higher shelf; please stop and lend a helping hand. You may just save someone’s heart from being hurt and they’ll be more likely to help the next person in need they see. One person can change the world. You just have to try! #changein2015

Much love! ~ Missy
