Today is the first day of my nutrition/fitness regimen. I’m going to be doing the 21 Day Fix Extreme Challenge with an old friend from high school, Kelly Ardillo Carroccia. She’s a Team Beachbody Coach and over the past year has lost 42 pounds, all with 13 herniated discs in her back! I’ve been watching her progress and reading her posts on Facebook, and as I’ve reached my all time highest weight, I decided to take control of my nutrition and fitness and get my health back!
One thing that has accentuated my weight gain is the fact that I have Hashimotos & Hypothyroidism. Your thyroid controls your pituitary gland and how you metabolize everything you eat. Without exercise and eating right, the thyroid struggles to maintain a healthy weight. An unhealthy weight, in turn, makes my joints ache and my muscles stiff. I work as an Office Manager during the day, so I’m sitting in a chair behind a computer desk 8-9 hours a day, 5 days a week. There are times I don’t get out of my chair for a couple hours at a time and when I do, it takes me a minute to get moving.
I’m only 44 years old. I shouldn’t be walking like I’m 90.
Today that changes.
I’m going to use my blog as my food and fitness diary and to keep accountable not only to myself, but to all of you as well. I want to be healthy. I want to wear my smaller jeans again and to not get winded walking up the stairs. Heart disease and Diabetes run in my family and I do not want to fall victim to that.
As soon as the mail gets here, I will have my 21 Day Fix Extreme package and will be able to officially get started. But I’m going to make my first entry here anyway.
Day 1 – 8am – Breakfast – 1 hard boiled egg & water
